Hobbies

To keep myself off the streets after working hours, I developed some other activities. TCJA/DJO, Volleyball, Belgian beer, Traveling, Walking, and more.

TCJA/DJO   TCJA/DJO (Technical Creative Youth Center Arnhem, formerly known as Dutch Young Scientists). I'm an (active?) member of this organisation, which tries to develop the technical interest of children. They provide courses for children in Photography, Electronics, Computers, and more. My most important contribution, however, is emptying the coffee machine. The machine fights back!

Here I got in touch with computers, back in 1978.

Volleyball

In the city-quarter in Arnhem, where I live, we have a lively organization with many activities. I play volleyball: on a very low level, but with a lot of fun. Want to join? We are always in need for a few more players.

NINJA

NINJA stands for "Nijmeegs Informatica Netwerk voor Alumni en Jaargroepen", in which respect it tries to be the intermediate between old, current, and future students of the Informatics sub-faculty of the University of Nijmegen. In my role as secretary of this organization, I collect addresses, sent postings, maintain the website, and whatever more is needed.

Walking   Once a month, a group of people from all over The Netherlands meet to make a walk in nature somewhere. Usually these walks are around 20 kilometers. Some pictures can be found at my wandel page (Dutch only)
Furthermore   you can find me
  • driving one of my four bicycles around (prefer bikes and trains above the car),
  • building my own furniture,
  • improving my old (1935) house, or
  • bothering my friends with e-mails.
